THE ANTHONY SHAW COLLECTION OPENS AT THE CENTRE OF CERAMIC ART IN YORK

The Anthony Shaw Collection is a continually-growing important holding of contemporary ceramics, sculpture, two-dimensional art and other objects acquired by Anthony Shaw, and features many of Marsden Woo Gallery's represented and associated artists. Now in trust, it was formerly housed in West London but is now on long term loan to York Art Gallery.

The Collection has recently opened to visitors, as part of the Centre of Ceramic Art (CoCa) at York Art Gallery. Anthony Shaw has always felt his collection is more at home in a domestic environment and worked with Marsden Woo Gallery artist Martin Smith to design and develop a domestic-style area in which to show the work.

The space has opened with an introductory selection from the holding made by Shaw including pieces by Marsden Woo Gallery artists Gordon Baldwin, Kerry Jameson, Nao Matsunaga and Sara Radstone.
